Vietnam Injection Molding Factory Cuts Scrap Rate 35% with AGS HBC-10(D) Packaged Chiller

BINH DUONG, Vietnam \u2013 A mid-sized injection molding factory in the VSIP II industrial park has achieved a 35% reduction in scrap rate and a 20% shorter molding cycle after deploying the HBC-10(D) 10-ton packaged industrial water chiller from AGS Chiller, the company reported.

The Challenge

The factory operates 8 injection molding machines producing plastic components for electronics and home appliances. Its previous water-cooled chiller and cooling tower system had accumulated serious operational issues over years of service in Vietnam's tropical climate. Cooling tower maintenance required chemical treatment twice monthly. The brazed plate evaporator had developed calcium scaling from hard bore well water. Mold temperature fluctuated by \u00b14\u00b0C, pushing the scrap rate to 8%. Afternoon voltage drops frequently triggered overload protection, causing unscheduled stops.

The Solution

AGS Chiller deployed the HBC-10(D) 30.5kW packaged industrial water chiller. The unit arrived as a complete pre-assembled system with a 200L water tank and 1.5kW circulation pump, requiring no external cooling tower. Installation was completed in a single day. Key matching specifications included 380V/3PH/50Hz power, a scaling-resistant shell-and-tube evaporator, and a 9-layer protection system for grid instability.

Documented Results After Three Months

The factory recovered its full investment within three months. Annual savings from eliminated cooling tower chemical treatment and labor alone reached $4,400.
